GAELIC!★Gàidhlig
Okay. I JUST started learning this language. I'll add more resources as I find them.
Scottish Gaelic is not a common language at all (only about 60,000 people speak it) but it can be really fun! It is also a neat way to reconnect with your heritage if your family had any Scottish roots.
Here are the sites and books I've found so far!
Save Gaelic.org → http://www.savegaelic.org/
- The URL is pretty self explanatory
- Info for names, dictionaries, spell-checker, etc.
TY Series books (TY = Teach Yourself)
- There is a Teach Yourself Gaelic book that isn't bad (I honestly hate the way the lessons are organized but with Gaelic you have to take what you can get because it is hard to find resources)
- NICE DICTIONARY! The dictionary companion to the book (Just titled Essential Gaelic Dictionary) is a nice thing to have!
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig (SMO) → http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/index_gd.html
- This is an ALL Gaelic university on the island of Skye (in Scotland)
- Beginners welcome too! They have Gaelic language programs for learners of all levels
- Note: site is in Gaelic but there is a button for English on the upper right-hand side of the page
BBC Alba (Alba is "Scotland" in Gaelic) → http://www.bbc.co.uk/alba/
- The site is mainly in English but there is a BBC Gaelic radio station called Radio nan Gàidheal
- There should be links on the homepage for learning Gaelic
Beag air Bheag → http://www.bbc.co.uk/alba/foghlam/beag_air_bheag/
- A BBC site for beginners of Gaelic (the name means "Little by Little")
- I personally didn't find this site very thorough, but it could come in handy

Welcome to The Language Lounge!
This is a public blog that has resources for learning languages online with (mostly) free sites, videos, etc. There are entries for many different languages and there are many links and recommendations for self-learners.
The entries below are in no sort of logical order, so I recommend you look to the blog-archive to the right of the page and find a starting point. The first entry for each language is always titled "[Language name] - Start Here"
FIRST! Check the entry titled "Tips and Tricks (For Self-Study)" because this has some "pre-study" tips for you.
SECOND! Read the "All Languages - Must Read" entry because it has really nice resources for any language.
Enjoy!
