RUSSIAN! Русский Язык
I'm only a beginner in Russian but I've managed to find some nice resources online for the self-learner. First thing you NEED to do though is learn Cyrillic (the alphabet used in Russian.)
I have a separate entry for Cyrillic so be sure to check that out next, because most dictionaries and grammar sites assume you know the alphabet and there is rarely any sort of pronunciation guide.
Russian can be similar to English in some ways and VERY different in others. Russian has noun cases, three noun genders, and some pretty insane verbs. But like any language, learning it can be rewarding and a lot of fun!
Below are some sites I've been using during my study of Russian.
--------------------Dictionaries--------------------
Russian Dictionary.org → http://www.russiandictionary.org/search/hello/english
Free-Dict. → http://www.freedict.com/onldict/rus.html
I usually use a paper dictionary but these are the two best sites I've found for online dictionaries.
--------------------Grammar Guides--------------------
Russian for Everyone → http://www.russianforeveryone.com/
Master Russian → http://masterrussian.com/
I use a combination of these two sites. They both seem to give a very nice foundation of Russian grammar.
--------------------Random--------------------
Wanna watch some Russian movies? → http://russianremote.com/
The Russian alphabet (will be covered in its own entry) → http://masterrussian.com/blalphabet.shtml
